Should my friend have a hysterectomy or simply a Loop electrosurgical excision procedure ? |
She has to have the LOOP. But she is considering having a radical hysterectomy. Cancer runs in her family and she is not planning on having any more children. Any thoughts? You don't mention the problem she's having that a hysterectomy is an issue....but, if it's one of her options...and she's at a greater risk for cancer and she's done having kids....I'd have the hysterectomy. If she is already having a surgery, why not have a hysterectomy now instead of another surgery down the road? I just had a radical hysterectomy, in fact still under doctors orders, The reason I had mine is because I had ovarian cysts that continually ruptured and caused a great deal of indescribable pain. after the surgery, the doctor came in and said that it was a good thing I had it done since my left ovaries, bowel and uterus were adhered together. Other than not being able to do anything, heavy lifting and driving, for a couple weeks it has so far been well worth it. Honey I am sitting up here scared to death wishing that they would have taken my ovaries out when they did the hysterectomy. Now I have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and have a high CA -125 reading. Tell her to take them out it's not worth it. My cousin died of ovarian cancer when she was 35. Go figure. it really depends on her health. She can choose to have a hysterectomy but keep her Ovaries ,, But usually the doc's will suggest a LOOP first and then later on down the road if she needs something else to get a Partial Hysterectomy.
