Is there an age limit to getting a hysterectomy? can you just get a hysterectomy just because?

If its medically necessary than age is not a factor. I was 29 when I had mine. Right now they are only done if medically necessary, you can not just request one. Though I highly suggest it, its awesome!! No periods!

no woman would want a hysterectomy because they remove either your ovaries and/or your unterus and perhaps all then if you are young you get into a state simliar to early menopause can experience meopause at a young age.. People who need this done don't have done for fun. it also means they will never be able to be mothes again and for a young woman that is very upsetting and there is no age limit but if you need one done when you are 60 or 70 it doesn't matter that much because you are past the age of giving birth and you have gone through menopause so if they remove your uterus when you are 55 or 60 of older .. it's doesn't matter a lot because you are way too old to ever be a mother and you are probably past menopause ...and no doctor would perform a hystorectomy on a woman just because. if she doesn't want more kids instead she can her tubes tied... xxx it's hell for those who are young and want kids and those who don't want kid as I said can have their tubes tied and most likely they never will get pregnant. it devastates young women to never be able to have the choice to even consider to have kids .. and something has to be wrong .. a growth at the ovaries or a growth at the uterus to have to remove all those organs and then a young woman will experience to feel early menopause symptoms and feel like a woman of 55 or 60 hormone wise... so it's not fun at all it's hot flushes and depression and a hormone change because it turns a young woman hormone wise into an old woman.. no young woman would want that. you get there soon enough between age 42 and 65 menopause will change all hormones in the body and you will feel older.. and less like a woman.. xx

No. there is no age limit and you can get it just because.. Hysterectomy's are to prevent you from getting pregnant but ALSO to stop your period and it can prevent ovarian cancer and things like that. But, that means you will go through menopause. My mom got one when she was 23 years old.

There has to be a reason to have a hysterectomy. It's has to be necessity not just because.
Women usually have serious problems that can't be corrected any other way.

well i think you have to have something medically wrong with you to get one. but you cant just want one and them give you one i dont think
