Has anyone had a hysterectomy?. What did you go through, and the emotions you felt.?

I tried for a baby with my husband for 6 years just be told when i got tested that we couldn't have one & that i needed a hysterectomy instead.

I was gutted, i cried for weeks about it, i went through all the emotions you can think of.

Did anyone else ask these questions and how did your experience go, was it ok or did it go wrong?.

Did you feel like your womanhood was took away from you?

Can you have sex after it and does it feel the same as before?

Did your partener/husband help and support you through it?

Did you put weight on or did you lose weight?

How long did the pain last and how long was you immobilile for?

If there is anything else you can tell me about it please let me know, as i am really scared about what it is going to do to me, mentally and physically i am only 36 and i feel to young to lose my womanhood i know there are girls that are younger than me who have it done, but could you share your story with me.

I was a bit younger than you but had finished haveing my family but still felt really sad that it was really all going to be over. I was really nervous before the op but they are pretty straight forward and they give you good pain relief afterwards I came home on the 4th day but you are not allowed to drive or do anything heavy for a few weeks, after that a full recovery and just think no more periods!
