How to recover from hysterectomy? |
8 weeks ago i has a hysterectomy due to cancer in the uterus,i don't know what is worst, the way i feel tired and cranky, and ready to go on a rampage,or the kemo, that makes me feel sick to my stomach,to all my fans sorry have not got to your questions,i will answer them all, just trying to figure my body out,any suggestions? A hysterectomy is major surgery. It can take even long then 8 weeks to fully recover. I had something called granulation tissue (scar tissue that forms in the same area where the cervix was removed and treated in the gyn's office). You had a major organ removed and have tons of internal stitches and a lot of healing to do. You can ask your dr. about zofran for nausea. It's one medication that is for nausea and little kids on chemo can eat pizza after getting zofran because it's an awesome medication. Also feel free to visit www.hystersisters.com They have a lot of advice on pre-op, post-op, cancer boards, hormone message boards, and other things. It's the greatest hysterectomy websites out there I think. Also try not to sit to long as that can make your belly hurt along with causing groin pain. It took me about 12 weeks before I was even allowed to have intercourse and then 17 weeks to get the granulation cleared up. I also tested positive for infections and was put on antibiotics about 2-3 times to get rid of whatever was going on near my granulation tissue. A hysterectomy is not like having a baby. A baby comes out and a hysterectomy involves removing a major organ, reattaching things to make a closure at the top of the vagina. A lot of women can have over 200 internal stitches. Hope this helps you out. Hang in there and remember that you are recovering from major surgery. just try to relax more. Get enough rest so your body can have time to build strength and recover. Then maybe try drinking a few cups of warm tea every day. If you feel like being a bit more active, try doing some low-intensity modified yoga. Yoga is proven to help you keep in a better more peaceful mood. There are great yoga dvds out there for that:) have sex |
