Hysterectomy- How long after the surgery can you take a bath or use the SPA? |
I had abdo hysterectomy 3 weeks ago and I want to know when i can take a bath or jump in the spa; It is generally recommended that you wait until your follow-up appointment with your Dr. and your incision scar is examined. Once that is done, and your Dr. knows that your incision is well healed, then you can take baths, use hot tubs, etc. I am going in for a Hysterectomy on 6/23.. So I have done extensive research on this- as well as post- op instructions. okay, you may SHOWER 2-5 days AFTER your surgery, but CANNOT fully cover yourself in water (bath or spa) for at LEAST 6 weeks- you need to go in for your post-op appointment at somewhere around week 6 or so- and then depending on how well your incisions have healed- and how the dr. feels- you may then be bale to do those. However, it may take up to 8-12 weeks before you are able to do these. I know this is NOT what you were looking to hear- but following these is the difference between a safe and healthy recovery- v.s- complications (infections, torn stitches, etc.) good luck- believe me time will pass. |
