Why would I be told to do a bowel prep for a hysterectomy? Seems like a very odd request to me.? |
I thought that was very odd on the preparation for surgery instruction sheet. I'm not having bowel surgery, it will be a low bikini incision in FRONT. Maybe they want you empty as the drugs they put you to sleep with can shut your bowl down for a couple of days, that's why after C Sections they really limit what you eat, or in Australia anyway. They may want your involuntary muscles, the ones in the bowl, to give you a break while you recover from the hysterectomy op. Either way, they know what they are doing, hopefully. there are two reasons. agree w/the nurse,,,AND its so u dont have to get up and go to the bathroom after major surgery..ur suppose to rest after major surg, and when you have to take a poop, it basically feels really bad,,, they want u to get up and move around after surg anyway,, Well they'd rather you do the whole bowl thing to make sure your cleaned out.. its like going in for a colonocspy*Sp* it's because they are working with your BLADDER. |
