Help! Period question!! Partial Hysterectomy? |
I am 32 have no kids and do not plan to ever have children. I have a period every 2 weeks and it lasts anywhere for 11 days to longer. I have tried Prometrium unsuccessfully and have now switched to the birth control pill (Kelnor 1/35) and that also is not helping me. I had a pap last month and everything was fine. What should I do? I am seriously thinking of having a partial hysterectomy. I'm sick and tired of having a period all the time and having no energy and suffering from cramps. Any advice would help, thanks! NO! Please do not get a Hysterectomy!! Kristy, see a gynecologist who will find the cause of your problem. If you have fibriods, a partial hysterectomy might be your only choice. I had one, best decision I ever made. No more worries about pregnancy, cervical cancer and NO MORE PERIODS. Honey, at 32 you are past prime baby making age anyway, get er done you will be glad you did. I don't really have any advice for you, but I do know how you feel. I'm 23 years old and for over a year I have been bleeding heavily nearly everyday and have had severe pelvic pain. I have been on 5 different birth control pills in a little over a year. None of them have helped at all. I have also had ultrasounds, a hysterosonogram, and a laparoscopy, none of which have found anything wrong. My doc told me I should try the depo shot because he said we are running out of options. I got my first depo shot about two weeks ago and it has just been making my pain worse. I have also been thinking a lot lately about a hysterectomy. But my doc has told me that since I'm so young and haven't had kids that we need to try other options (even though I have tried so many things already). Since your 32 and don't ever plan to have kids, there's a chance your doctor would consider letting you have a hysterectomy. You should talk it over with your doctor and see what they think. I wish you good luck and wanted you to know there is someone out there who knows how you feel. Good luck!! |
