Abscess after Hysterectomy?

I am also a woman that had a LAVH(ovaries still intact)due to adenomyosis and hyperplasia on May 22. Everything seemed to go wonderfully for about a week before I began symptoms of fever, chills, etc. After my trip to the ER and a subsequent five day stay at the hospital I was treated for an abscess with high doses of antibiotics and bag drainage that I had to come home with for a few more days. I am currently on Levaquin and a second antibiotic for another week. I too have concerns of the abscess returning. Is this something that occured in the hospital during surgery? I have a couple of other girlfriends that have also had a hysterectomy with a piece of cake outcome. I'm really frustrated with how this whole thing has turned out, and unfortunately the abscess has set me back yet another two weeks of recovery atleast. I am a busy mother of three kids and just want to be myself again. I was told that after the surgery I would feel like a new woman!

This happens from time to time, I know of alot of women who've encountered this setback. It's nothing that you or your doctor did wrong, it just sometimes happens. Take your
medications as your doctor prescribed them and continue resting as much as possible. Take a mini vacation and enjoy the extra 2 weeks this has afforded you-take care of yourself (for once) and let your family wait on you.
Look at the bright side of all that happens and you will be fine. Keep your spirits up. I hope you feel better soon, God bless.
