Could I get a hysterectomy? |
I am sure of that. I am almost 23 years old and I have 2 little boys. I am looking for my options other than birth control. I know I am too young right now to get a hysterectomy...I think I have to be 25 y/o. I take my birth control pills continously so I don't have a period...which is why I don't just want to get my tubes tied....Do you think I could get a voluntary hysterectomy when I am old enough? I don't understand what is so dumb about it?? I know I do not want anymore kids....I understand some people have medical conditions and must get it done. I have spoke to NP's and people who have had it done, I understand the risks...I am not stupid....I wouldn't consider something without looking into. I'm also 23 years old and have thought about a hysterectomy. (I don't have any kids though) However, in my case, it's because I have been bleeding non-stop and have constant severe pelvic pain for over a year. I have been through many procedures and the doctors still can't figure out what's wrong with me. I have asked my current doc about it and he has told me that we need to try more things before he would resort to that. (Even though I have been on about 7 different BC methods that haven't helped and had numerous procedures done) I know that you said that you are done having kids, but at 23 I'm sure that's not enough of a reason for them to give you a hysterectomy. I have actual medical reasons to have one done and my doc still keeps making me look for other options. If you are looking for a way to not have your period, you could just ask your doc what s/he suggests. In your situation, I definitely would NOT be looking at having a hysterectomy. No doctor is going to perform a hysterectomy. Just get your tubes tied. My friend had severe gynecological problems at 22 and they eventually did it - but when she was 25. I imagine it would be hard getting it approved at such a young age, esp with you being so healthy. Taking BC pills continuously isn't healthy either, honestly. If you don't want any more children, get your tubes tied. That way, if you change your mind down the road, it is reversible....a hysterectomy isn't. Have you talked with your doctor about what you want to do? You probably have to show some sort of medical issue in order for insurance to cover the cost of the surgery, which I imagine would be quite high. I kind of understand what you're saying though. I'm almost 30 and have very little chance of ever being able to have kids of my own. There's nothing physically wrong with my reproductive organs, but I sometimes think that if I can't use them to have a baby I'd rather not have them at all. you have no health problems why would you want a hysterectomy if you are done having children get your tubes tied That is the saddest thing I have ever heard. that is sad you have no health problems |
