What can I expect after a laparoscopic hysterectomy? |
I just had a laparoscopic hysterectomy done 1 week ago. I know its going to take me a few more weeks to feel back to my old self. But I can already tell the difference. I had endometriosis, my doctor feels it has advanced into adnemiosys but wont know for sure until the biopsies and we will review that information during my first check up in a week. I am only 30, I have not had a period in 5 years beacause I had a surgery called Novasure in 03 (which never took the pain away, just the excessive bleeding). He left my ovaries and most of the tube and had burned off some endometriosys he found behind my uterus. I know its possible for it to return, as it never went away after the novasure. So im wondering how many people have had these same issues and if it ever came back. Does any one know of good websites to find information on these things? I have found many but if you have favorites I would like to check them out. Thank you! I am 35 and also have endo...I have had 3 laps, two with laser ablation and two rounds of Lupron. I had a Mirena inserted in February but now in July my pain is worse than ever and am considering having it removed. My endo specialist told me that I wasn't a good candidate for further laps as it returns so quickly. I have also considered having a hysterectomy and my specialist told me (which I already knew) that he cannot guarantee that it won't come back. Because the endo generates it's own estrogen it feeds itself so if not every microscopic but is not removed it will return. And when the ovaries are left they of course produce estrogen as well. I recently bought yet another book on the subject Endometriosis for Dummies. It has everything in it and although I knew pretty much all there was in the book (my endo doc tells me I am well informed...not that it does me much good lol) there is interesting info on new research. I have experienced so much pain with this and when it gets really bad I think my decision has been made to have the hysterectomy...I don't know I am still holding out for kids someday....Hope that helps... |
