When will i be able to walk my daughter to school after a hysterectomy?

i haven't had it yet , i will have plenty of help at first was just wondering when i could do my normal things . it takes half hour to walk there and ill be walking back . also any other advice on getting better quicker thanks .

i have a fibroid thats why im having a hysterectomy ,due to see the gynacologist on 29th of this month, oh and im 36 .

You won't be able to for a while hun, It really does put you out of action had this done 18 months ago all I can say is when the docs tell you don't do anything thing they mean nothing try to keep your muscles strong with gentle exercise when well enough!
I did not listen to them got family other half at work and I decide to walk home one day from docs nice sunny and half way home a neighbour stopped her car and said what are you trying to do your nuts get in, I did and do you know what I was hurting so much I just thank the stars she came along!
Towards the end of my recovery 6 months I moved some plant pots and then my disk went in my back this could be linked some how they are not sure yet am waiting SO PLEASE listen to the docs and get as much help as you can xxx

Thanks hun and I really mean it take care of yourself and yours xx Report Abuse

Of course you will, once you've had your stitches out, you will be walking more or less normally - you feel a bit "pulled-down" till then..
One word of advice, when coming home from hospital, ask your driver to avoid any roads with speed humps! For a few weeks it "jars" right through you!
I didn't need any help after the stitches were out, except in lifting heavy things and in making a bed - pulling up the bedclothes was worrying. Just take things easy for first 12 weeks.
One good thing about a hysterectomy - no more monthly expense and remember that they are taking away the baby carriage, not the play pen!

It took my mum about 5-6 weeks after her hysterectomy until she could move about with being in too much discomfort...
But i still did everything for her anyway, cos she wasn't really supposed to over exert herself.
And it still took her quite a while after that to be completely normal.

I hope your operation goes well, and that everyone bends to your very will and whim whilst you are recovering.

Peace!

isnt it supposed to be 6 weeks after?
I'm not sure but i know a couple of friends who had a hysterectomy and 6 weeks always seemed to be the time they were told to not do anything too physical
why not ring NHS Direct for advice?

i have no answer. but my goodness. women really are bigtime planners.
