I had 2 hernia's after a Hysterectomy & have just had an op on them. How long till the swelling goes?

& are they likely to recure?


I had a TAH 12 months ago, the wound was vertical about 6 inches and the surgeon did the hernia's by cutting into the scar from that.

I've had a cold since and have sneezed alot, so I'm a little worried about whether the hernia's will recure or new ones will develop?

And I'd like to know when to expect the swelling to lessen and what signs if any to look for to check if all's ok?

I had the op 7 days ago.

Your wounds should be starting to heal now as should swelling.
You should have little or no bleeding or oozing from wounds and absolutely no pus. A little redness around the wound and sutures can be normal after this time but it should not be hot to touch or overly sore.
If the wound seems to be delayed in healing, swelling more or you have concerns about the sutures, see your doctor as actually seeing the wound is the only real way to say if all is well.
