Can i request a partial hysterectomy? |
I had a tubal a couple of years ago.Never had a painful period until after this was done.It went well, with no complications until the last year or so.My periods are extremely painful and heavy! Can i request a partial hysterectomy, and will a doctor do this for this reason??? Its not just to lighten my period...i also have debilitating pain!!! yes. you can request one but some doctors will want to try different options before taking such extreme measures as a hysterectomy. I had a tubal and also experienced very heavy and long (10-14 day cycles). I requested a hysterectomy and my dr recommended we try other less drastic options first. he put me on mirena and it really helped to lighten up and regulate my periods. Most doctors will NOT perform any type of hysterectomy solely for the purpose of lightening your periods. They will recommend other options including IUDs before they will go ahead and do any type of hysterectomy. Your best bet is to talk to your doctor and see what method of lightening your period is right for you. Some forms of birth control pills can also help lighten your periods, and a partial hysterectomy is a pretty drastic move just to lighten your period. |
