My sister is having a hysterectomy?
I already asked something similar but am extending my question. She wants to know. Like will she be able to get wet when she is sexually excited. Both her and her husband are concerned about this since they are very active.
If they are just taking her uterus, it shouldn't affect her ability to get excited or even have an orgasm (although a few women report problems in those areas, so it's not impossible).
If they take her ovaries as well, that will put her into premature menopause. Unless she takes hormone replacement therapy, she will likely suffer decreased sex drive and vaginal dryness and discomfort. Source(s): I'm a doctor
"The cervix contributes mucous to vaginal secretions, but during sex, almost all fluid/lubrication comes from vaginal walls so most women don't report any change in lubrication after hysterectomy."
I personally had a complete hysterectomy when I was 28. Even if you have a complete, as long as you have hormonal treatment, which is necessary, especially if you're young like myself (you're body needs the estrogen for many, many reasons, including heart function believe it or not), then you're sexual feelings should remain the same.
Getting wet is not a problem at all (someone else mentioned your cervix being what produces the mucous that makes you wet, but I don't even have my cervix and still get plenty wet). Tell your sister not worry - I had my hysterectomy almost ten years ago and my sex life is just as good as it was then, and I've been married for 18 years.
As a matter of fact, I would do it ten times over again. I feel so much better since having it. Also the myth about getting fat - also incorrect - I actually lost weight - as did my mother.

I had a total hysterectomy and I don't have any problems. It does dry out sometimes but nothing that a little KY doesn't help...but usually it stays like it always has been. By the way, I don't take any form of hormone replacement and so far so good. I haven't really had any kind of side effects. I actually think sex is better now.
