What are the requirements for hysterectomy? |
for fibroid tumors I had a total hysterectomy done in 2004. I had bleeding so heavy that I had to wear 5 of the Kotex overnight pads layered. I had pain in my pelvic area and what I thought was just a belly button hernia turned out to be that plus tumors. Don't wait. See your ob/gyn. I don't want to scare you but I had a tumor that weighed 5lbs and that was the one the doctor could feel. When they did my surgery that one was removed and a smaller one had popped up that weighed 1 lbs and my uterus weighed 5 lbs. They told me I had a 60-40% chance that I have ovarian cancer or Lupus. After all of this my doctor came in and told me God and alot of others were watching over me as I was cancer-free. But he also scolded me and told me that if I would have waited another 2 to 3 weeks the outcome may have been very different. I just had a hysterectomy because my fibroid tumors had grown a lot since my last gynecology visit. He thought since they had grown from 2 cm (?) to 7 cm in one years time I should have one. So I know that sudden growth when they hadn't been growing much before is cause for concern. I believe that when someone has severe bleeding during every mestrual cicle, and also when there are lots of fibroids in and out of the uterous; that 's what happened to me and I was qualified for complete histerectomy.
