This is for woman that have had this hysterectomies? |
I want some inputs on a hysterectomies I was told I will need one and I want to know what will happen and so on I would love any info. that you can give. I'm scard b/c I'm only 27 and there wanting to do this to me, and only for who have had this done plz Well, if your ovaries will remain, you won't have to worry about early, forced menopause which is a plus. If your uterus is gone, you'll no longer need to worry about cramps, periods or pregnancy, which can also be a plus if you're not interested in having another child. Of course, even if you aren't interested in having another child, this is a major change and even something which you are perfectly justified in being scared about, and even a loss worthy of being mourned. And it goes without speaking that even if performed vaginally (hysterectomies can be performed vaginally or via a traditional incision made in the abdomen) this is major surgery. You will be having a bodily organ removed. This is not something which should be entered into lightly. If you have any concern that your doctor may be leaping to this solution when there may be a less radical way to deal with your issues, you shouldn't hesitate to get a second opinion. I'm not one to always say that the uterus should be preserved at all costs, but I do think that if it is possible to avoid major surgery and still have an improvement in health, then that's the route to go, and it's always worth exploring all the options. I wish you the best. There are a lot of alternatives to a hysterectomy depending on the reason for having one. Also, there are different types of hysterectomies. Any hysterectomy will leave you unable to bear a child. I hope that you have no intention of becoming pregnant because if you do, then don't get a hysterectomy. At the age of 27 you will probably keep your ovaries if there is nothing wrong with them, unless you have endometriosis, then they might take them. It depends on what type of problems you are having. It was suggested that I have a hysterectomy at age 18 because I would never be able to have children. I had endometriosis. Definitely get another opinion. If the condition is not an emergency, I have seen women get better on herbs and a better diet. I refused surgery and had two children. At the age of 28, I was having problems again so I had the surgery. Get your health built up first and then see how your female problems get. They may improve once you are healthier. For me the surgery was a blessing. I healed easily and had no regrets. It is best to have your ovaries left if at all possible. i haven't had one but my mother has and i have seen enough on discovery health and would definitely get a second opinion. when they take your uterus they also cut important nerves that make sex enjoyable and orgasms possible The majority of women that I talked with b/f my hysterectomy was positive said it was the best thing they could have done. With me it was the worst. Depression, no desire at all for sex, dry skin, no energy, limp hair, aging process started. I take hormone pills daily now which in the end can cause cancer but without them I am so depressed. The hormone pills help me to be the person I was before the surgery. I feel like I did before the surgery. I would not recommend hysterectomy to anyone unless it was a life or death situation. Read everything you can on peri-menopause. My surgeon was no help afterwards he suggested I take prozac(which really made me confused took it for 2 days and felt like I was crazy) and he said if prozac didn't work then he would recommend a pshchiatrist. I ended up going back to my regular MD and he suggested checking my hormone level, it was 20 and should have been around 80 to 100. That is when I started on the Estrotest hormone and 1st day I was back to normal. Estrotest is estrogen and testosterone . So to sum it up, get a 2nd,& 3rd opinion before you make your decision because once its done ....its done. I wish I knew then what I know now. The Dr. left one ovary so I wouldn't have the symptoms I just described, guess what it didn't work and he didn't really care surgery was over with, he was finished with his job. Good Luck |
