Why can't overweight women have total hysterectomies?

Obviously the weight issues are a problem as well as any other factors that are associated with the weight problems. But my girlfriend had a D&C done a few months ago (her second one) and she is on her third month in having heavy periods. She takes Depo shots every 10 weeks, and she sees her OB/GYN then also. He claims that he can't do anything for her, because of her weight. Her weight gain of the past year is primarily do to the fact she is taking Lithium and Wellbrutren and Zoloft for her Bi-Polar and PTSD and depression. Despite her efforts of watching what she eats and exercise, she is unable to maintain or lose weight. All she continues to do is gain weight. Now she has her period all the time and her flow is heavy always. Making it even tougher for her to do any exercise at all and to lose weight. Couldn't she get a tubal done or something that wouldn't be as evasive as having a hysterectomy? Sincere answers only please. She had blood work done and she is not anemic.

i dont know how big you are talking about, but i'm not tiny and i had a hysterectomy 4 months ago for heavy bleeding. (by the way, excessive heavy bleeding is called menorraghia, in case you like learning something new every day..lol) she could try to find a doctor who can do a novasure procedure. i fought for 10 years to get my hysterectomy done. i had to move to arizona to have a doctor who was willing to do it. its the best thing i have ever done in my life. taking vitamin k might help lighten them some. the only drawback to that is that she wouldnt be able to eat anything with vinegar in it. thats not easy to do, its in everything. i found vitamin k at a health food store, but the doc can also give vitamin k shots. any more questions? feel free to ask. A tubal is not going to stop bleeding. I take it she was pregnant? She should see another doctor regarding other treatment options. I don't see why they can't do it.....unless there are other medical issues you didn't mention (or may not know) here. But she definitely needs a second opinion.
I am a large woman and I had a full hysterectomy , I had breast cancer and just to be on the safe side I had a full hysterectomy they cut me all the way across my stomach. I will have to say that it did nothing to help the weight thing I was big to start with but since then I have gained even more.
