For women who have had hysterectomies? |
A friend of mine has scheduled herself for a total hysterectomy, her only problem being a cystic ovary. I have been trying to talk her out of this, as I fear it will drastically change her response to sexual relations. I've read that if she at least keeps her cervix she will fare better in this area. Any personal experiences will be appreciated. Hormone therapy should help resolve sex drive issues that she has. As for sexual response, there may be some changes in how her body responds. Some women experience dryness. I had a full hysterectomy last Sept (was 37). I did have my cervix removed. Orgasms certainly feel different, but they still occur. This website can provide your friend with a ton more information for both before and after her surgery. I refer to it a lot http://www.hystersisters.com/ I will also be having a hystorectomy in the next coming weeks and as far as I know, if you keep your ovaries, there should be no problem. If she has the whole lot removed, she will need hormone replacement tablets. I am keeping my ovaries and this will be better for me as this won't require hormone replacement tablets. As for your friend, I understand you don't want her to have the procedure, but it might be a last resort for problems she may be having. Afterall it is her body and she would of discussed the pros and cons of the operation with her doctor. I also have a friend who had a hystorectomy a while ago and she looks great and has had no problems at all. It really depends on the person, as to how they enjoy not having problems anymore. I hope all goes well for her. |
