Is there a new surgery for women to get when periods are bad? Instead of getting hysterectomy.?

Periods are long and painfull. Don't want hysterectomy just want no more periods.

The person above is right. There isn't usually surgery available, nor is it necessary, but there are some types of medication. There is actually a drug around that can lighten periods/stop bleeding, I've forgotten what it's called, as well as birth control or other hormonal pills that can also lighten periods, make them regular and on some brands even make you only get 4 a year or eliminate them completely. If your periods are very bad please see your doctor I'm sure they have pills for you.
No surgeries that I know of but many of the women that I know were prescribed birth control pills in order to better control their periods if not eliminate them.
I do know of a procedure called an endometrial ablation, which surgically remove/destroy the lining of the uterus that produces menstrual blood. It is typically done as an outpatient procedure. There are pros and cons, just like there are for everything. You will no longer have periods, but you will also not be able to become pregnant. That is essentially the ultimatum with any surgical procedure to stop periods though. Either you have periods and kids, or you have neither.

If you're wanting a less permanent route, I was on the Depo-Provera injection for nearly three years, and I haven't had a period in almost that long. I stopped menstruating about three months after I began to get the injection. It's nice, and all you experience is occasional spotting. Of course, the results vary with everyone.

I would suggest talking to your OBGYN about both options. They are both very viable. As I said, it just depends on which route you'd like to take.

Hope this helps!
Yes there is. It is called an endometrial ablation.. It uses heat and lasers to sear the inside of your uterus , causing the lining to lessen. It is FABULOUS !!! The name is Nova Sure. Look it up, it is cheaper , better for you and of the hundreds of Pt's we have done, they have ,every single one of them come back feeling a 100% better. It is an in and out procedure and worth it to any woman who has uncontrolled heavy painful periods. The periods are SO much shorter, a day, maybe with just a tiny bit on the tissue when using the restroom. Look into it. It is wonderful.
There is also medication you can take, the pill, depo lupron, all of these help. If you do not want more children, then the ablation is worth a look see, otherwise, I would talk to my GYN and ask her for help. Most of the time, heavy periods can be managed with the pill.
There are a few methods that doctors have nowadays to help. There are some medications to stop your period completely and there are some relatively new procedures that can help as well. Go to your doctor and he can explain them properly to you, i'm not even going to try as important issues like this have no room for misinformation. I had a few choices i could have taken but i was hellbent on having a hysterectomy. I had that back in may and haven't looked back, he took all but one ovary and one tube. Everytime someone asks my husband how i am, he tells them i died and he has a new woman now... which is so very true. The last time i felt this good was probably when i was 10, i have so much more energy, so much more life, my period no longer rules me. I used to get my period for around 10 days, they were long and extremely painful. Help is out there for you, go discuss your options with your doctor, don't hesitate and don't look back, claim your sanity and your life back.
