What are the pros' and con's with having a hysterectomy???

I might have to get one w/in the next 6 months, but have no idea what the after effects are.

I can only give you the pro's as I have not experienced any con's. I had a hysterectomy almost 2 months ago. I still have both my ovaries. NO MORE PERIODS!!! I am sooo happy about that and that is the best thing. I have not had any long term effects. The scar is still there though it's still early and I'm hoping most of it will fade. It is a scary thing especially if you've never had surgery before(like me) but just getting it over with as soon as you could would be what I advise for anyone planning on having one. The waiting was the worst thing. I started research online but ended up having to stop since there were so many horror stories and I was starting to doubt if it was the best thing for me or not. I am very happy I had it done.
Well my mom had one about two years ago. So far nothing bad has happened of course after the surgery she was tired and in some pain but after about 3 days in the hospital she was fine even came home early. I mean of course no more periods is a nice thing. If its somthing thats recamendded to you from a doc then get it becuase it probaly is the best thing for you.

Good Luck!
