Can you get Pcos after a hysterectomy?

I don't think I had it before my hysterectomy ...11 years ago...But I have the syptoms of Pcos now

No.

You're more likely going through menopausal (hormonal) symptoms.
See your Gyn.

Most women with PCOS get it in their teens and twenties and have it throughout their lives. It doesn't come out of the blue.

You're not having PCOS. Source(s): Have PCOS and know about it.
might be a stupid question but what does pcos stand for cuz i too had a hysterectomy.
not sure, but i would imagine that you have something else, cause i don't think you could have pcos without ovary's.

p.s. for the person who wrote the first answer, it stands for poly cystic ovarian syndrome.

its when you get alot of ( usually small) cysts on your ovary's, they cause weight gain, irregular periods, cramps, and hormone imbalances ( which cause another list of problems)
i have pcos
im pretty sure you cant have polycystic ovary syndrome w/o ovaries. did you have a full hysterectomy, or just have your uterus removed?
If you had a complete hysterectomy, which is the removal of the uterus and the ovaries, then, no.

If you had a partial hysterectomy, the removal of the uterus only, then, yes.
