*Women health>>>Hysterectomy

I had a partial hysterectomy 2 1/2 years ago after it was discovered I had a (benign) ovarian tumor. However,?

the doctor removed the uterus but not the cervix. How often and why does the doctor leave the cervix? Because not only do I still have to have a pap test every year, I still have minor spotting every month. Have any other women had a hysterectomy where their cervix was not removed?

from what I've read, part of what makes it *partial* is that the cervix is NOT removed.

from my understanding, this is generally seen as a positive thing, that while the tests and theoretical cancer risk and such is still there, it also leaves the anatomy up to that part, generally intact.
A partial usuallyy include uterus and cervix, leaving the ovaries, I have never heard of leaving the cervix,, after all that is usuall the area women have trouble in, why have an operation and leave a potential threat intact. I have had a hysterectomy myself, and I would not think of going through the pain and suffering and still be worried about cervical cancer in the future.
I have had an hysterectomy, but I have had to have everything removed,I would,if I was in your shoes, talk to another doctor, for your own peace of mind,or if you are comfortable talking to present doctor that did the surgery,
