Hysterectomy Recovery? |
I am scheduled for a hyesterctomy on the 11th of this month. I know that my abdomenal muscles and nerves will be severed, so my question is what are some good tips for my recovery time? My gyno has told me a minimal of four weeks before I can go back to work. Are there any ways to help my healing process along? If it takes at least four weeks, I know this is really going to hurt! Any suggestions/ideas/musts --especially from those who've lived through it--would be GREATLY appreciated !!! it can take even longer than 4 weeks, I think the healing process is different for every woman. I do not think there is a way to hurry up the healing process. You need a lot of rest, you will walk very slow at first and it will take time till you really feel up to everything. It is so important to take good care of yourself otherwise things will just drag. I found this site very helpful (I am a woman) http://www.safemenopausesolutions.com/po... http://www.angelfire.com/fl/endohystnhrt... http://www.uterine-fibroids.org/uterine-... Pain meds and rest. The only thing I can recommend is that as soon as you can get up and walk a little, that you do it to help get your strength back. Try to eat as healthy as you can, but avoid anything that can cause gas including drinks with ice. There really isn't much you can do to help the recovery along. I've had to have two major surgeries that involved my abdominal muscles and nerves. One was a hysterectomy. i had one , it took me around two to three weeks , i was working in aconvient store and i went back three weks afterwards. i was just on light duty. Here, the recommended recovery time is 6 weeks. The most important thing is lift NOTHING! Good luck and take care. |
