Had bladder repair-suspension 5 yrs ago; now incontinence problems again at night.?

5 yrs ago when I would start wetting the bed... I'm in my late 30s. I'd soak the bed just about every single night, I finally went to a urologist who put me on Detrol LA, which worked fantastic; completely eliminated problems. But he said I had a case needing surgery. Had the surgery and it was a miracle. I quit wetting the bed TOTALLY. The bed stayed dry 100% of the time. A huge relief to be rid of an awful problem. Now, last night, I woke up and found I completely wet the bed, after 5 succesful years post-op. Dismayed, had to get up at 4am and strip and change the bed (plastic covered mattress, thank goodness), and then had to bathe, etc. Pee everywhere. What are some products/ideas/anything that will at least keep your bed dry at night? Adult diapers? Sleeping on towels? It's a horrible feeling to wake up with the bed soaked in your own urine. How can I keep the bed and mostly myself dry if it happens again? I'd do just about anything...!

They are rather warm but the "heavier" night time adult disposable diapers would be the ticket. Anything else you have a chance of making a mess. If you urinate before bed time it will help keep the diaper from becoming overly wet. If you used the toilet before you climbed in bed that will keep your bladder from becoming too full. Then even if you wet the diaper the bed should stay dry Even adult diapers have their limit. But they can hold a great deal of liquid. If you wet they hold the liquid pretty well so you should feel pretty dry during the night. They are pretty easy to put on yourself. Sometimes it helps to put on the one tape loosely, then fasten the other side properly then readjust the first side. It just takes a bit of experimentation to get the hang of them.

Another option is adult cloth diapers and plastic pants.

They do make absorbent pads to put on top of the bottom sheet but those are really more of a backup for the diapers. Without a diaper on you are likely to wet the top sheet should you have an accident.

Silly me the helpful woman who posted below me is correct. You would need to check with the Doctor to see if the old problem returned, is there a different cause for your bed wetting, or if you need a medication again.

I've wet my bed enough to know that it isn't the funnest problem in the world. They do make some lighter products to absorb urine but the diaper is the safest bet to keep your bed totally dry until you resolve the problem if you can.

Thanks for the 4 stars. If your problem isn't that bad then you could just use an adult day time diaper for nighttime they would be a bit cooler. This site is a great place to see the different type of aids to prevent wetness.

Have you talked the doctor about a relapse? thats what happened to my mom. she had her surgery around 7 years ago and like 1.5 years ago it started up again and her bladder ended up back where it was and they had to do the surgery again.
have your doc check on that.

Check www.worxforlife.com. They have a huge selection of products that will help keep you and the bed dry. Goodluck!
