Dog incontinence? |
My 13 yr old pit mix has been peeing in the house recently :( he hasn't done this since he was a pupster.....he does go out ever 3-4 hours and also has heart failure so he is on Lasix and enalapril. he doesn't pee in his sleep and does it knowingly....so I guess my question is do you think it is just the meds he is on, or is he becoming incontinent? if he is becoming incontinet...is there a test the vet can do to confirm and prescribe a medication for? Didn't you just ask this question? I believe all the answers were about the same. The dog is getting old and is probably not able to wait as long as he use to to go to the bathroom. Take him out more often. It may be from the medication, but these drugs have potential to cause kidney problems which can cause him to pee more. Go have him checked. If the vet determines it could be incontinence, he may put him on a trial of medication to see if it helps. can it be age? yes. can it be a urinary tract infection? yes. can it be due to the meds he's on? yes. is there a test a vet can do to help determine whats going on? YES! First, the lasix is a diuretic - it makes you pee. The object of that is to get rid of extra water in your system, and lessen the load on the heart. |
