What surgical procedure is available for incontinence in my dog? Pills don't work!?

My dog has been on PPA and DES. Neither has worked. She had a terrible reaction to the PPA and the DES makes her lethargic and depressed.
I've heard there is a surgical procedure, but what's the likelihood of it curing her??
Serious answers only please!

She's a young dog - just turned a year. She's tried PPA (which i think is what you're referring to as Proin) and she had a really horrible reaction to it - so i want to steer clear of that stuff altogether!
are there any other medicines? herbal something perhaps? I'm terrified of the side effects.
I live in the Caribbean and it's hard to get proper treatment for your dog without having to leave the island.

You would have to discuss this with your vet. Only your vet can examine your dog and tell you if she is a good canditate for sugury.

I am unaware of any surgical procedures. Only medications.
I'm interested to see if anybody knows of any.

I do know that a surgical procedure could be pretty risky because if it has the potential to help the sphincter muscles of the bladder, it also has a the potential to sever them and make it much, much worse. Which is why I doubt such a procedure exists.

Sorry I'm not aware of a surgery to fix, but has you dog tried Proin? My dog is on it and so is one of my parents dogs. It's very mild, a chewable they love it, and for my 16 # dogs the cost is 20 bucks every 3 months. Neither mine of my moms dog has a problem with it. Best of luck

If this a young dog, or an old dog and is this a cronic problem or just excitable peeing?

If it is excitable peeing that can be worked on a controlled with training.

If it an old dog you are probably limited to diapers

If it's a young dog, you have a real problem.

There is nothing a surgery can do.
I assume your dog is not incontinent all the time.
Try to live with it and just don't get pissed at her.
This is quite common.
Best of luck!

You can consider a diaper,it has happened before, and they are available.
