How can I help my cat's incontinence?

This past July I found a cat that had been hit by a car. She was in the middle of the road, drooling because she was in shock and dragging her hind legs behind her. I immediately rescued her and took her to the vet. After examining her she said that nothing was broken and only time would tell if she could walk again. She gave a her a shot for the pain and put her on steroids. After about 2 1/2 months she began walking on all fours again and now she is doing fine. Except for one thing. Whenever she falls asleep for a long period of time (more than 45 minutes or so) she urinates a small bit. When she wakes up its like she doesn't even know that she did it. The vet told me this could be because she has some nerve damage. I know its not her fault but I hate that I have to constantly clean this up. Is there anything I can do to help her out? She is probably about 1 1/2 years old and otherwise in good health.

try getting a cat bed for her - one that you can wash
and try training her to sleep in it - this way you can take it and wash it
otherwise you could try puttin a diaper on her - just cut a hole in it for her tail
or when its nap time confine her to a small carrier

if there is nerve damage there, there isnt much you can do besides work with her to see what makes things better - poor thing

they have a world of products on there

really, bless you. the only thing i can think of is, is maybe, MAYBE, if you shave the fur - a sani cut type of thing? where she might feel the urine, wet, or chill on her skin. . . if the nerve damage is to the bladder sphincter only, maybe if she can FEEL the urine on her skin, she won't like it, and may make her aware she needs to go to the box. . .and she might re-train herself that way

The given suggestions are sound.
I like that she is improving, don't lose hope, just remember nerve damage takes time. Be patient, don't give up on her, and just love her. It may take time, but she will recover.

First of all, bless you for rescuing her, not everyone would.
You can get some of those disposable pads they use to put under people. They are large enough to fit on a chair or where ever you want them.
God bless.
