honestly... be honest. information from the Dr. office pamphlets is good. i'd say explain the general picture, and not necessarily graphic details. give them a book to read about it. i remember when i was little, if my mom or dad didnt explain it to my satisfaction i would go look it up anyway.

Just tell them you don't need to know yet, I'll tell you when you are older. If they are at least 8 they will know how to google it anyway and save you the trouble.

Just say you don't know and continue your practice of telling them to ask their mother or father.

I dont know, I get sqemish and try to look away when those things come on TV

With honesty and consideration to their age (meaning not going into too much detail)

give them actual medical lingo. Be responsible or just say, that is something we will discuss when you are older because you are not able to understand.

I think pictures are the best way to relate a subject to a child....
