Incontinence after prostate surgery?

40 days post op and i still have incontinence does any one else have simmular problem and how r u dealing with it ,or if u did have surgery and incontinence how long did it take for you to become dry

I was 4 weeks out. Still didn't trust it so I wore the Male Depends for another week. Stopped waring them 6 months ago and I have really hydroed the system and it held fine.

Its very common and there are drugs and also exercises available to control it. what does your doctor say. are you using diaper?

I'm about 50 days out - the incontinence has improved dramatically in the past 3 weeks or so. Things that helped:

1) Do your Kegel exercises, as another answerer here has mentioned. (That's where you stop and start your urine stream to retrain your sphincter muscles)

2) Cut way back on caffeine and alcohol.

3) Try to keep your bladder empty by going every 2 hours or so.

I had DiVinci surgery. A buddy of mine had the laposcopy a couple years back. He was down to one of those pads that fit in his underware after about 4 months or so. That continued for about 10 months.

I assume you asked your surgeon about how many nerves were spared in the surgery, as well as the urethra removal, connection, etc.

That is one of the possable dangers of that sergery. Another is erection disfuntion.
If you went to the right doctor you may have not even needed sergy. O-well to late now. Sorry

It took me about three months.Do these exercises when you go start and stop the flow. I had the surgery in 06 and I am cancer free. Good luck to you
