Incontinence in dogs after castration?

My dog had a castration last week and I've noticed today that urine is 鈥渄ripping鈥?on some occasions, even though he has gone outside done the toilet.
Is this normal after a castration? He has had no bladder problems before until now.

my ***** has urinary incontinence due to spaying because of urethral sphincter incompetence which occurs in ovariohysterectomised bitches.

the above link also says male dogs can become incontinent after castration, if you notice wet patches after your dog has been sleeping then you should talk to your vet for advice

Is there a lot of long hair around his "area"? If there is, you can take him to a groomer, and have them shave around there, to keep it clean. You could also call your vet. Although the neutering shouldn't cause problems, he could have a bladder infection.

But no, neutering should not cause bladder problems.

You should chat with you vet about this. Very possible a bladder infection is starting.
Best of luck

no not normally, sounds like it might be a problem. Is the dog young or old? You might want to call the vet you had your dog neutered at and ask them.

I've read of it happening in female dogs after being spayed, but not male dogs. If it continues, then consult your vet.

hahahahahahahaha!!!
