Canine incontinence? |
I have a 6 year old Black Lab who recently has starting drinking excessively and peeing excessively. He seems to be ok during the day but always overnight he pees on the floor. It's clear, no smell and sticky. I'm thinking renal failure, diabetes or kidney problems. Does anybody have suggestions as to what I can do to keep him dry until morning. I've even put those large size diapers on him, but there not too effective because he wiggles out of them. I am frustrated because the first thing everyday I have to mop the floor. I have hardwood and I'm not sure how it's going to stand up the the constant scrubbing. PLease help if you have any suggestions. Polyuria/Polydipsia or PU/PD is a symptom of some very bad things, as you know - and I'm sure you're going to have the vet look into this. Firstly see your vet to figure out what is going on, and hopefully he will be able to sort out a treatment for your poor dog. You really need to go to the vet. They will most likely do bloodwork and a urinalysis. This problem doesn't seem like it is something that will stop on it's own. Until the problem is determined, there are dog specific diapers that might help and work a little better than regular diapers. You might also want to get some pee pads to put down in the area where he sleeps. You need to take him to the vet! You will not find the help you need on Yahoo! |
