My 27yr old Gelding showing signs of incontinence?

He is in extremely good condition, is easily mistaken for 3yr old and is posted at many vets center's due to his excellent condition. he has a good sheath.
the only other symptoms he is showing is that he sweats alot between his hind legs.
i have to clean his hind legs every night so that it doesnt sting him, does anyone know what could be the causes of this or has anyone been through the same thing?
i didnt want to get the vet down until i found out some possibilities first, but only found alot of information on mares..

No his sheath is a slighty darker chestnut colour.

What type, urine or fecal? Causes can be very different between the two. One way or the other, I think this is a case for the vet...and soon.

probably old age has a lot to do with it, those sphincter muscles cant last forever, just like grandparents need depends when they get old

You need to specify whether you mean urinary incontinence or fecal incontinence.

Are you sure its urine and not like infection thats coming out and draining?

EDIT- does he have a pink or spotted sheath?
