My husband & I have been trying to get prego for 3 mths-how do i talk to him about testing & infertility? Three months is not long enough to be worried about this stuff yet. It's too soon. A normla healthy couple only has a 25% chance of coceiving each month. Give it another 9 months. MOST will have conceived by then if there are no other problems. well it could be you or him. just tell him that you are thinking about getting tested and you would like if it went and got tested as well to be on the safe side. but it could take a while to get pregnant if you are trying. It takes the average couple almost 12 months to conceive (I know, totally opposite of what we were taught when we were younger---and yes it can happen the first time but HIGHLY unlikely). You need to wait 12 months first. It took me that long to conceive and I have 3 other children. My sister and her husband have been trying for a year and already have 1 healthy child. Pregnancy can take awhile to happen. How old are you? If you are older it may take longer. Three months seems early to me to worry about infertility. It took me 5 months and I was 33. As far as testing, he is your husband, you are planning a family. You should be able to, with no problem, talk to your husband about most anything, including fertility problems. It is easier for him to get tested. He just has to do his thing in a cup and the doctor will test it. He should be tested first because it is more invasive to test you. Tell him that, he shouldn't have a real problem with it, other that maybe being a little embarrassed. Three months isn't all that long, it took 9 months for us to conceive our first, and then about 3 for our current pregnancy. It takes some people years. Every couple is different. Infertility usually isn't looked into until it's been at least a year of trying. I wouldn't start testing for infertility quite yet sweety! Even a normal healthy couple can take 6 months to a year to conceive! I thought the same when we were TTC and it had been 3 months, I thought for sure something had to be wrong with either him or me. I got pregnant my 5th cycle of trying. Track your cycle and ovulation. Not everyone will ovulate the 14th day of the cycle (which is what I thought in the beginning) Source(s):mommy of 10 month old little boy! Hi Id wait at least 6 months if not a year until you get tests done. I thought the same at that point and tried to stop stressing and then I got pregnant! I agree that it is a little soon to be worrying about infertility, unless you have had a concern about this in the past. Does your husband want a baby as much as you do?? If he does, then it shouldn't be a problem discussing the issue of fertility testing. I know that men have a tendency to have huge egos and all. But if he wants this as much as you do, talk to him about it. Don't be demanding about it or confrontational. Make a gentle approach. Good luck. Well, I think you're being a bit too impatient. You've hardly given it enough time, and testing for infertility is just going to stress your husband out - making it even more difficult. The average couple conceives within a year of TTC, so you're really rushing things. My advice would be if you're getting too worried about not conceiving yet, stop trying. When Hubby and I stopped trying and just let nature take its course, we got pregnant immediately. Good luck. way to soon! Many healthy people with no issues don't get preggers that quickly. give it a time. it took me to get pregnant for 5 months. so just keep trying... if no luck for a year then go see your doctor to talk about it. |
