Does having a loop diathermy cause infertility? |
I had one of these several years ago as a result of an abnormal smear test, the procedure was carried out and I was given the all clear. I am just a bit concerned that it may have caused scarring and therefore unable to conceive. I also think I have endometriosis as the things I get with my period are classic symptoms, however, I had an external and internal ultrasound and they said there was no evidence of the endometriosis, I am "not convinced"! So if anyone out there has had this procedure and knows a bit about it I would be grateful for some advice and also any tips on getting pregnant! i had the loop procedure done on my cervix in 2004 i have had a baby since and am 36 weeks pregnant now. i had a few issues with my cervix but not concieving but with scarring as i couldn't be examined due to pain. i believe this made my labour worse as my cervix didn't dilate properly but i actually think having my last baby has corrected whatever was wrong. I'm pretty sure you are talking about a Leap procedure, and no, it doesn't cause infertility. I had one done a couple years ago and I got pregnant almost a year later. My son never dropped and he ended up being a scheduled c-section. doc said that the only concern with a leap is that the baby may come early due to scarring of the cervix after a leap, but it was not the case for me. |
