Does an RE deal with diabetes and infertility? |
I am diabetic and would like to try to get pregnant. I suffer from infertility but am ready to try. I made an appt with an RE. I just want to make sure I am seeing the right kid of doctor. great idea. go see the reproductive endocrinologist. they will help you manage the diabetes AND with TTC. don't waste your time with the ob/gyn. also chart your basal body temps at fertilityfriend.com to familiarize yourself with your cycle. The RE will not help you with your diabetes since that is something you need to discuss with an internist. However, there are doctors out there (my RE was one of them) who specializes in helping women with diabetes become pregnant. Yes, you are seeing the right doctor (reproductive endocrinologist) if you have diabetes or insulin resistance/pre-diabetes condition (such as PCOS) and have fertility issues. Yes, you are seeing the exact doctor you need to see. Reproductive endocrinologists (REs) specialize in reproductive issues caused by the endocrine system and diabetes is related to the endocrine system. |
