Did you have INFERTILITY problems and trouble conceiving ?

It tookme 8 years to concieve my precious 3 year old son ..i have a conditon known as pcos ..I just wanted to hear some others talk about there fetility problems ..it makes me feel normal , seems how since i have infertility issues im actually the abnormal lol

It took 10 years and more miscarrages than I have fingers. I am blessed with my now 4 year old. A tiny miracle at 3 pounds even and healthy. It is a horrible feeling not to have kids when you want them so much. I don't have another 10 years so I hope and pray I get pregnant and carry soon. I want someone as wonderful as her to be by her side when I can not be. To all you mom's and soon to be mom's, your in my thoughts and prayers.

i have pcos too and hubby and me have been ttc #1 for 20 months now and we will be having our 2nd round of IVF next month. people without fertlity issues take for granted the emotional and physical rollercoaster ride we go through. How did you cope for 8 years i thought 20 months is bad? I am happy for you that you have your little miracle and you have given me the hope that someday it will happen for us even though it may take a while.

i was fertile but my husband had a low sperm count so we had to go through ivf. It was the most hardest time of my life but we are now blessed with a beautiful 10 month old daughter. i am so dreading having to go through it all again to have another child. its just such an emotional roller coaster.

me and my husband are trying to concieve for 2 years. i study with him abroad. we found out that he is normal and i ovulate very well but because the insurance we couldnt afford to pay for the clinic in my country its free. not knowing what my real problem is and the problem is not with him but with me makes it hard. other women around me gets pregnant everyday makes it harder but i still have faith that the right time will come for me to concieve. after 2 months hubby will graduate and we will return home and i hope there i will find the right care.
i wish you the best of luck with whatever you want. having a child is the greatest thing. dont let the problem beat you up you can do it.
good luck =)

I knew since I was 19 years old that I would have difficulty getting pregnant. My periods were really off and I was having a lot of pain during them. The doctor I had back then told me that I was ovulating while I was having my periods. He had to prescribe me birth control and informed me to see a specialist when I was ready to have children.

April 2003, I stopped taking birth control altogether. Me and my husband tried on our own for 4 months. I did not have a period once. September of that same year, I had my routine pap exam. I told my doctor about not having the periods. He told me that it sounded like I have PCOS and informed me that it was not a bad thing to have if I'm not trying to get pregnant. I told him that me and my husband had been trying with no luck.

He called his nurse into the room to write up a lab slip. He went down a list of tests for the lab to check out to confirm my diagnosis. I walked out of his office with some samples of Prometrium 200 mg to jump start my period. Two days later, he calls me up to tell me that I am PCOS insulin resistant as well as having a hypothyroid. He prescribed me with medication for my thyroid and Metformin 500 mg; I was to increase the Metformin 500 mg at a time every other week until I was taking 1500 mg. I did this for another 4 months along with the Prometrium since my periods refused to start on their own. I did not get pregnant.

I had a follow up appointment with him in January 2004 to check on my progress. Since everything he prescribe me did not work, he prescribed me Clomid 100 mg; days 5 thru 9. This was on top of everything else I was taking. Before I did this, I started to drastically change what I was eating and did a lot more walking than I normally did. I stopped eating a lot of sweets (especially chocolate) and no longer drank caffeinated drinks. The first round of Clomid failed. He increased it to 150 mg. I had another follow up appointment and found out that it had failed again. This time my husband went with me. My ob/gyn gave him a lab slip for a sperm analysis. He was a really good sport about the whole thing. Even though it was the most embaressing experience of his life. His test came back really good. Great sperm count and motility.

I asked my ob/gyn to give me the same 150 mg because I did not know if I had thrown up some of the pills. He agreed and refilled the script. Taking the metformin really made me feel nauseous and a lot of times I wound up vomiting.

The third round was a success. I was pregnant, but sadly miscarriaged 7 weeks into the pregnancy. I tried again and it failed. It was around this time that I had lost 20 lbs.

The 5th round of clomid I was pregnant again. My daughter was born in May 2005. The whole experience was extremely well worth it. She's a wonderful child. I love her to bits.

I started trying to conceive again May 2007. This time I was only taking Prometrium 200 mg, Metformin 1000 mg and Clomid 100 mg. I got pregnant on the 2nd round. That really shocked the heck out of me.

My due date is April 3, 2008. I'm looking forward to seeing my baby. :)

Dealing with infertility is one of the most heartbreaking experiences I've gone through. My husband and I have been married 13 years and wanted to add to our family 3 years ago. We tried the old fashioned way until we sought help. My RE (reproductive endocrinologist) ran several test and suggest that we "hurry" to IVF because of age, FSH...I got a BFN after IVF #1. I won't go into how that feels emotionally but I know you know how that can be. My second attempt was a BFP. I was pregnant for the first time in my life! Unfortunately it was ectopic. We saw a heartbeat and then I was rushed to surgery. I lost my left fallopian tube. OUCH! Well, tomorrow is my 3rd egg retrieval and Friday I will have my embryo's put into my uterus and the journey begins!

You're not the only one! I think I've read that infertility effects 10% of the population. So there are a lot of abnormal people!

Congrats on your boy! Lot him a lot!

I have to tell you that I've joined a forum called fertilethought.com that has really helped me! There are hundreds of other women there who are dealing with infertility. It is really a great support to me and helps me to feel like I'm not the only one!

Thanks for letting me vent!
