What is second infertility and is their a such thing?? Has anyone had this problem?

I am 30years old and I have a son that is almost 13 and I have been trying to get pregnant for a little over a year now and I have not had any luck. I am seeing my OBGYN but he does not seem to be to worried. I heard that some women experience problems when trying to have a second child???? Can anyone help me with more information on this?? Thanks so much

I am experiencing secondary infertility right now. It's when you have fertility problems after you have already had a healthy pregnancy.

My problem is that I can get pregnant, but I keep miscarrying (I have had five so far). I have to ge back to the fertility specialist and have further testing done to rule out any autoimmune problems.

Being over 30 and having tried for a year, I would seek out a fertility specialist. Chances are that there is no reason to be worried, but they can run some preliminary tests on you and your husband to rule out some possible causes. And you should pick up a copy of "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" to see how to start charting adn determining if you are ovulating.

Best of luck to you!

You are talking about the infertility that women suffer after they have already had a healthy pregnancy. I can't remember the exact term right now... something like secondary infertility.

I am going through it right now. I have been ttc for 2 1/2 years now. I had two previously healthy pregnancies. I don't seem to have a problem getting pregnant, but I can't seem to carry it. I've had 4 miscarriages in a year.

I had secondary infertility and it was also unexplained infertility. It took me 9 months to conceive my first one which is within the normal range. I was 28. At 30, I decided to have another child. It took 1 year of trying on our own, another year under the care of our ob-gyn, and another year with a reproductive endocrinologist before we became pregnant.

They did all the tests, and everything were normal which was why the doctor said it was "unexplained" infertility. I was on several cycles of clomid, FSH injections, HCG injections, metformin, and about 8 cycles of artificial inseminations before we became pregnant with triplets.

You can start with using an ovulation monitor to track your fertile days. We did this for about 8 months. When we had no results we went to see our reproductive endocrinologist who guided us toward a very difficult process. Good luck!
