Infertility....please help?

im 22 healthy and energetic. I have been trying to get pregnant since last june (9months). I am engaged and have been with my partner for almost 4 years. We are in a loving and stable relationship but feel that now is a great time to have a baby as we are both young and working. We have a great apartment and a family car but for the past 9 months have been unsuccessful and getting pregnant. When I told my doctor about this she was discusted about the idea of me trying for a baby as she thinks im way too young. I completely disagree with her and feel I cannot talk to anyone about the situation of maybe investigating our infertility. I suffer with bad periods but are always regular. Last year I got a scan which showed up a cyst but this is nothing out of the ordinary. How long do couples try to have a baby?
Please help....

Thanks a million for you help.... yes i have a 28 day cycle and have had this for the past 10 years. I have used online ovulation tests to predict the best days to try for a baby. A few months ago I saw a gyn. who told me everything seemed to be normal and healthy.

If you cannot get pregnant after 12 months of trying, an OB will likely put you on fertility medication. I think you should see a different OB doctor. Your doctor seems very judgemental and most OB's are really nice and easy to work with. I'm surprised your OB would say you're too young at 22. We see patients who are 13 and 14 and pregnant at our clinic. No one judges them, and you shouldn't be judged either. Find a new provider and talk to them about your fertility problems

Ok, the doc is totally out of line!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its your decision not anyone elses. Have you ever been on birth control? One of my friends was on birth control and when she got off to have a baby the doc told her it could take her 2yrs to get prego. Also, the cyst might be a problem.......don't know though. Just might take you longer to get prego. It could also be your partner.........has he gotten checked? And see another doc......feel like no one cares ok.........take care and good luck

im wondering the same thing, ive been TTC for 2 years now, and still nothing , its quite depressing:(

normally docs tell to try for on year before getting any fertlity treatment. moreover since you have a cyst I think you should seek a help to ovulate on time.gynaec can give you some medication to induce ovulation on time like clomid. how about your periods..........are they normal 28 day or longer .......normally they count 28 -32 days as normal........but if you have a longer cycle than that.......you need to see a gyanec. and try to change your docs too as you say she told you are too young......22 is a mature age and its ur decision about baby
good luck

90% concieve within 12 months and the rest normally within the next 12 months. After 12 months get fertility testing- to make sure your ovulating and that his sperm is all okay.

Your doctor shouldn't make you feel that way I'm 21 and yes I know its young too but Ive had a lot of life experiences and am in the same boat as you. I actually first got pregnant when we weren't trying, and had a miscarriage at 12 weeks. It was upsetting but it took 8 months to get pregnant again, unfortunately I had a miscarriage at 5 weeks. I know for some people it can take a long time to get pregnant and others no time at all. The best I can say is try not to stress out about it its known to kill/ward off the sperm as crazy as it sounds. The cyst did you get it taken out? I have heard from a friend that they got a cyst removed and got pregnant immediately. Are you taking prenatal vitamins? Its a good idea to start them even months before you try to conceive. Back to your doctor I would get a second opinion and if you are serious about trying I would look into fertility testing (I plan to). Do you have a gynecologist? They have more information than a family doctor they should be able to help you with fertility. Good Luck hope you get pregnant soon!

I agree with the others 12 mos is the normal amount time to try before investigating infertility. I know its frustrating though. I always wonder why it is that some women can conceive so easily, and others have to try so long. Its just doesnt seem fair!

It can take a healthy fertile couple who are actively TTC 12 months before they conceive. After 12 months it is suggested that investigations should start. Are you currently doing anything to help determine your fertile time such as charting or using OPKs.
