Can spinal meningitis affect sperm count or infertility? |
My husband almost died from spinal meningitis when he was 3 yrs old. The doctors didnt expect a full recovery, they expected the worst. He has no signs of ever having spinal meningitis, however we have been trying to concieve for 2yrs. I have a 4 yr old from a previous relationship and we want to add to our family. We have considered a lot of other factors for why we havent had any luck. Neither of us know much about long term affects of spinal meningitis, we have looked a several sites about it. It's very unlikely, there's no reason to think that this can cause infertility. It wouldn't affect your husband's hormones or his reproductive tract, which are the only things that can cause infertility. If your husband was very ill for a long time, it might reduce his fertility, but it would probably recover as he got well again. |
