Strange question about infertility and the AF...? |
My husband is a cop in the USAF. His job requires him to be gone 4 days a week, which is currently Saturdays through Tuesdays. We have been trying to get pregnant for over a year and after several tests and a recent trip to the Medical Facility on base, it was determined that my husband has an extremely low sperm count. The Doctor said that my husband needed to look into tripping out on different days (so he could be here at the right ...time) but at the same time, could not give him any sort of a medical letter to help him accomplish this. Is there anything we can do? with his job, he can't just take one or two days of leave at a time. he has take 4 at a time. if hes constantly taking it for this, hes going to run out eventually. ps- most of the people he works with are already aware of his condition. Can't he take leave? I 'm not sure any letter is going to do the trick. Besides, do you really want your husbands command knowing about this "condition" of his? He will be teased mercilessly. My ex-husband had the same problem because of all the drugs he was on from his surgeries for his back. I never did get pregnant. All I can say is keep trying. You might try the fertilization technique where they inplant his sperm into your egg but it is spendy. I don't think they are going to give him time off for this to tell you the truth! Good luck you can ask for an invitro fertalization its cost a lot but if you really want it ... it will be a safer bet my sis took a hand full of clomax? The doctor whoever he may be is a poor one and I am glad he is not mine. The least he could have done is send a e-mail to your husbands supervisor or First Sergent explaining the situation. These things can sometimes but not always be worked around if the supervisor or First Sergeant are made aware of it and give you a little better chance of succeeding. Your husband should sit down and explain the situation to them and see if they can not figure a way to do a little dynamic scheduling to help you both out with this. While they may not be able to accommodate the situation entirely I bet they would be more than willing to try. Some supervisors have encountered this before as well as themselves and can probably even relate to your situation. If you went and saw a military Dr., I have no idea why he would have a problem giving you a letter merely suggesting a change in schedule. Obviously, he can't say it''s a medical necessity because when it comes down to it, its not. |
