How much to run a infertility test?

My insurance is having some stupid problem until Oct. But my husband and I have tried to have a baby for 2months and don't want to wait until Oct for taking a infertility test. Does anyone know how much does that cost to run a test? Tnx so much..

Most of the time Dr's won't start testing until after trying for 1yr if <35y/o or 6mo if you are >35y/o. It can take a healthy couple up to a year to conceive. So try not to stress and relax. There is much more than one test. Your OBGYN is going to run a full panel of blood work, then you may have to go in for a vaginal ultrasound and possibly a HSG test which is where they shoot dye into your tubes to make sure they are open. The prices I am really not sure about. I know the HSG was almost $800. Some insurances do not cover infertility test anways. It all depends on the state you are in. Good luck and lots of baby dust!!!

There is no such thing as a "fertility test".

There are, there is such a thing as a fertility "work-up". A "work-up" would include such things as...

1. Sperm Annalysis
2. hsg dye test (tests for blocked tubes)
3. Multiple blood tests on certain key days during your cycle to check various key hormone levels,
4. Trans-vaginal ultrasounds to track developing ovum and basically track ovulation.
5. Ovulation predictor kits
6. Post-Coital test (to basically see how far the swimmers are getting).
7. Clomid challenge.
etc, etc, etc.

Basically, a fertility doctor will start with the most basic of these tests. If one of them indicates a fertility problem, they will attempt to treat the problem and continue looking for others. Treatment continues to progress base on how things go.

you can pick one up online for $99.99 at http://www.downthelane.com/store/home.ph...
