Is there any other form of medication for Infertility other than Clomid for PCOS?

I am due to attend my gynaecologist in 13 weeks to begin medication as I have been ttc for 2 years without success as I have pcos....My doc stated that more than likely I would be given a course of Clomid. Ive done some research on Clomid and on every article I have read i states that clomid is not to be taken if you have ovarian cysts, which I have. Im a bit concerned about this! Have any of you cysts the same as myself and are on clomid or are you on different medication. What are the success rates of clomid and rougl how long will i take until I have my own litle bundle of joy?

Baby dust to you all..****** Mwah

Hi! To be honest i felt exactly the same as you. I have PCOS and lots of cysts on my ovaries, so when i researched CLOMID and found out they say its not really suitable for ppl with cysts on their ovaries i was a bit concerned! But i has internal scans every monday morning before work for about 3 weeks. they monitored my ovaries and/or the cysts on them to make sure the drugs were not over stimulating the ovaries and in turn making the cysts bigger.

I, like you, had been ttc for a bit over 2 yrs and i got pregnant on my first cycle of clomid! so i know this works for me. unfortuantely i lost my baby at 22 weeks due to a genetic condition which has nothing to do with the clomid or PCOS. although try telling me that at the time.

Once i have my head sorted and want to ttc again i wouldn't hesitate in taking it again! Good luck hun, im sure if it worked for me it will for you too!!

I know that theres a link between insulin resistance and pcos so a low GI diet is supposed to help alongside regular exercise.

I also know that alot of women with pcos take metfomin which is the same drug people take who have Diabetes type 2.

i hope you have success very soon!

I have metformin as a pre-clomid stage which aparently helps with fertility before i actually get to the fertility drugs stage. there is also a saline flush for the ovaries to reset the pcos - i havent had it but iv heard the sucess stories

Metformin controls the insulin levels in the blood and shrinks the cysts, there are loadsa things you can do in the meantime. try to get the PCOS dietbook and use it to monitor your fat intake.

Clomid doesnt always work, its the severity of your cysts and how you respond to the treatment. IVF will be your next stop.

Clomid is the next step in treating infertility, and if prescribed and monitored correctly it will be fine. you will have loadsa checkups so every eventuallity will be covered!!!

good luck
