About to start the infertility journey. What should i expect? |
We have been TTC for a year now with now luck. I've done the ovulation test strips and everything. So we have decided to go see the doc and get the ball rolling to find out why it's not happening for us. I would just like to know what are the first tests they do ? hi.... i am in the same position as you and in the midst of testing etc. my doc told me that it is just as likely to be the man as the woman, in fact he told me 30% man, 30% woman and 30% both. in my case, it seems it is both. anyway, the first tests i had were to check if i was ovulating. I did the test strips which said i was ovulating but no pregnancy. doc told me those ovulation strips are not that accurate. so i had blood tests done which found i was not ovulating, so doc prescribed clomid to make me ovulate, took it days 3-7 of my cycle, had another blood test on about day 25 which showed i had ovulated. took clomid for another three motnhs but still no pregnancy. he said the next step for testing me would be a laporoscopy to check if my tubes are ok etc. but seeing as this is quite a big test, he wanted to check my husband first, so he had sperm tests done and found that there were some probs with his sperm count, probably due to smoking. so he said he needs to quit smoking for 3 months (the length of the sperm cycle) and then be tested again, if it's ok, i will take clomid again. i just started this journey also. the first day i went the doctor took blood to check my progesterone he also did a ultra sound and everything so far looked good. than about a week later i had a hsg test done to see if my tubes were blocked which i was positive they were and that was the problem lol boy was i wrong they were clear although they did show signs of SIN but it was minor he said that couldnt be what was stopping me from getting pregnant. than on the 3rd day of my period i had my fsh levels taken and there was the problem they were 11.9 very high for me being 27. so i started clomid and premarin i did my iui 12 days ago but sucks to say it didnt work =0( AF made her on time monthly visit. so i go to the doctor tomorrow and start all over again. it is a rollercoaster but not for everyone sometimes it works right away! so good luck sweety and tons of baby dust!! |
