Wondering if i have infertility issues at 21? |
i have been sexually involved with my boyfriend for several years now and sometimes we are unprotected. also on 2 occasions we had a slip up and properly used the "morning after pill" but never have i missed a period or had any scares or knowingly became pregnany. i wonder what the chances are that we've been lucky and havent had any accidents in the many years we've been involved even though weve been unprotected on countless occasions over several years. If you were to have unprotected sex during your fertile window (5 days before ovulation) then you still only have a 20 to 25% chance that the sperm will fertilize it and that it will successfully implant and develop. It takes about 6 months but can take a year for a couple to conceive and that's with them using no protection, monitoring for fertility and having sex during the fertile window so the chances of getting pregnant from a slip up is low. That doesn't mean it can't happen though so if you don't want a baby, you should try to use protect every time. On average I have heard a normal couple trying to conceive only has a 20% chance of becoming pregnant each month. Do you get your periods regularly? I am 25 and have been trying since I was 22 and have polycystic ovaries which means I don't ovulate. Go to the dr if you are trying or concerned but if not just use protection :) It's a lot harder to get pregnant than you may think. There are only few days during each month you can get pregnant (while you're ovulating) Sounds like your timing has just been good. There is only one day where your egg can become fertilized. You just might not be having any "accidents" during the right time of the month. You'll know once you start actually TTC if there are any issues. |
