Bacterial infection, PID, and infertility?

A few months ago I was diagnosed with a bacterial infection I think it was bacterial vaginosis, anyway they said it wasn't a STD. I think I had it for a long time before that... and I think it either never fully went a way or came back... and I read that it can lead to PID, which can cause infertility. I also read that that can happen after surgery such as a hysterectomy or abortion... but if I don't have surgery am I still at risk for PID? and if i am still at risk what are the chances that PID will lead to infertility? and if someone had damage from PID would invetro-fertilization allow the them to still have children?

Pid can happen after any unterated STD that goes on for too long, even without surgery, PID is increasing, I'm not sure what your chances are, but it can be treated succesfully, if you are worried about fertility and PID go see your Gyn -they can diagnose, treat and follow-up w/ you to make sure it is gone and they'll be the best person to answer your fertility questions.

Try not to jump to conclusions. In the unlikely event that you get PID the risks associated with it vary from person to person. Try doing some research but don't turn your hair gray. Plenty of women have had Bacterial Vaginosis and never gotten PID.
