Someone without infertility problems taking clomid? |
my sister told me she wants to have triplets, its been her "life long dream" but she doesnt think she would ever be able to on her own. she talked to her doc, and he said she could do clomid to get multis. Tell her to be very very careful hunnie...I've heard of people who were prescribed Clomid for infertility problems who had hyperstimulation to their ovaries and now have bigger problems conceiving due to the clomid. I have a hard time believing that a doctor would prescribe fertility drugs if a woman has no problem conceiving. It is not common for Clomid to produce multiples. It is possible, but usually occurs by accident through trial and error. In these circumstances, the drug is administered in such a fashion that the drug actually hyper-simulates the ovaries thus releasing multiple eggs. Doctors try to avoid this at all cost. They start off prescribing lower doses and in subsequent cycles, they would increase the dose..slowly. For a doctor to prescribe this drug to a woman who is able to conceive on her own is unheard of, but for a doctor to intentionally attempt to overstimulate the ovaries using this drug is the height of irresponsibility. Why would anyone even want to see a doctor who would be SO foolish?? The issue with multiples is that you have a much higher chance of there being health issues. Plus multiples have a much higher chance of being born premature, which can result in health issues. Plus does she realise how hard it would be to take care of triplets??? no doc in there right mind would say take cloimd...u can only take it for 6 months in ur life as it can harm and they class triplets as high rish why would they out a lady at risk....i think u want 3 baby's. No decent doctor would EVER prescribe ovulation enhancement drugs just because someone want to have triplets unless that patient has fertility problems. (Yeah, octomom - that's a fluke , and her doctor is being investigated....) |
