Should I tell my boss that I am seeking medical assistance for infertility? |
He knows I have been seeing specialists and gone for tests for medical reasons. I have not told him what it is about. I am concerned my boss will be unhappy because if the treatment is successful I will get pregnant and take maternity leave which will negatively impact the business. Stuff him. Thsi is your private life, and you are legally entitled to time off for medical treatment. It is none of his business what it's for. Also, if you become pregnant (which I hope you do!) you're also legally entitled to paid time off (not forced to use your annual holiday/ make appointments in your own time) for any antenatal care you need. You're also entitled to meternity leave (paid) which he legally cannot refuse. Also you have the right to return to the same job/ one of equal pay and responsibility/level. If you lose your job as a result of fertility treatment or pregnancy you can sue for unfair dismissal and they will lose. No, it's not his business and as long as you are telling him it's medical tests and can supply a Dr.'s note if needed for time away from work then he doesn't need to know. Also if he did know and he held it against you then you could sue the company for discrimination. no, he already knows enough about your medical situation. no more needed. if you bring it up more, then he'll think you're making a big deal. it's women's issues. no more needs to be said. don't worry about it - don't you have maternity leave? if you do, there's a law to protect you. don't worry. and good luck!! no that is none of his business.... in CA we have laws that help you out like if you needed to be on bed rest or needed to go on leave before you are 36 weeks pregnant... look up family act laws\ your state laws.. don't let that bother you, if you worry to much its just going to make it harder to get prego. Well if your infertility is effecting your work schedule then it may be time to let your boss in. My work schedule was always flexible so I could go to appointments as needed. So, I did not feel the need to share this with my boss until after I got pregnant. don 't tell your personal things to anybody. They may share it with somebody else..who knows..!! No - its none of his business. If he questions you, simply reply that its 'womens problems'. I wouldn't. Why would you tell him that? Its not relevant to your work. |
