What is the benefit of treating female infertility with an antiestrogen and antidiabetic example metformin.? Metformin is used to treat women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. It alters hormones (increases some, decreases some) to increase the liklihood of ovulation. Used with diet and exercise and/or other drugs such as Clomid it is very effective. I don't know of any other conditions that use Metformin/Glucophage as a treatment for infertility. But I do know that if you have PCOS that it is an effective treatment for infertility...though not likely effective all on it's own.
