I have heard that douching can cause infertility....true or not? |
I have heard alot of bad things about douching. Like it can cause infertility and makes you more suseptible to cancer. Is there any truth to this. My grandmother is 70 years old and has been douching since she was a young woman and she is fine. Is this an unsafe practice? Douching can cause bacterial infections, which, if left untreated, could cause infertility. Douching forces bacteria higher into your reproductive tract, and possibly up into your uterus. There is a lot of vascular tissue and blood there, which gives the bacteria a nearly perfect environment, and could cause scarring of the fallopian tubes, which causes infertility. Bacteria do NOT cause yeast infections, they cause bacterial infections. The vagina cleans itself, and has no need for douching. The human body was well designed, and the more we mess with it, the more problems we bring on ourselves. ive never heard that but i know its really not good for you... but ill research it for you and ill w/b it can force bacteria into the reproductive area which could cause some female problems I don't beleive it will cause those specific things, but it can push bacteria into the vagina, causing more frequent yeast infections. No it is not true that douching can cause infertility and cancer if the water is hygenic. It is no valid relation between douching with the cause of infertility and cancer.Your grandmother is a good example.Infertility is depended on your organ, your egg and its channel to your womb.If you are healthy and your organ is normal you will be fertile.Cancer until now we do not know its cause exactly. But smoking according to a dictor will cause a cancer. Well I have always hear it is bad, because that area is supposed to "self-clean", but Dr. Oz on Oprah today did mention it can cause more ectopic (sp?) pregnancies... This is from the website, from one of the slides on Oprah.com Dr. Oz says the vagina is a "self-cleaning oven," and you shouldn't douche to stay clean. "You have your own bacteria in there. They're for you. You're supposed to have them there. When you wipe them out with a vinegar douche, then you're left with repopulating it with whatever happens to be nearby. It may not be what's best for you," he says. Douching, Dr. Oz says, may even make you more likely to have some problems, such as ectopic pregnancies and infections that can cause infertility. "It's a big problem. That's why I don't think there's any really good reason to douche. Period," Dr. Oz says. Keeping the vagina clean externally is important, and Dr. Oz says you should always wipe front to back to prevent urinary tract infections. And if you are worried about something in that area, you should go to a doctor and get treatment鈥擠r. Oz says that covering up problems with a douche won't solve anything. http://www2.oprah.com/tows/slide/200702/... Slide 7 of 11 |
