i suffer from 24 hrs headache..and have to sit long hours in toilet...i drink lots of water..but i don't find any changes.. Treatment for IBS varies from person to person.
I would advise that you keep a journal of your activities and symptoms, documenting what you eat and what makes your symptoms worse or better.
I'd also suggest the following:
*Avoid fatty, oily, greasy, or fried foods
*Drink plenty of water
*Eat lots of fiber and whole grain foods
*Avoid wheat products
*Try eating 6 small meals a day instead of 3 larger ones
*Avoid stress or situations that make you anxious
*Try taking fiber supplements like Metamucil, which can help with both diarrhea and constipation.
*Some patients find that they cannot tolerate spicy foods or dairy products
Many patients do report experiencing headaches as part of IBS (especially tension headaches) but if you're having severe or prolonged headaches you should have it evaluted for an organic condition such as Celiac Disease in which your body is basically allergic to gluten. I'd highly suggest being tested for Celiac Disease since IBS is a common misdiagnosis for Celiac. (IBS just means a lack of diagnosis, they dont really know what's wrong with you.)
Headache is not normally a sign of IBS, but it is a sign of Celiac. Testing is pretty painless, a blood test first, then possibly an enodscopy with biopsy. If u do have Celiac you have to follow the gluten free diet for life, but that's it, no meds, no other worries and once u follow the diet your symptoms go away.
Best of luck. |
